GUSTER BLOG

My personal blog site is: http://ericguster.wordpress.com/

Martin Luther King quotes are some of my favorites. My two favorites that he has made are:

“Justice denied anywhere diminishes justice everywhere.”

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere"

Martin Luther King, Jr.

These quotes are so true being that when an injustice occurs, it tends to spread like a wave across a city, state, or region. We fight for justice for individuals and will continue doing so.

Here are some interesting links in reference to wrongful convictions. If a person is accused of a crime, it is very important that they obtain an attorney as soon as possible. If you need our help, please contact my office at 205-581-9777

This link leads you to a story in reference to Tulia, Texas and the unlawful convictions of many people. The confidential informant lied on many people leading to their convictions, which the convictions were overturned.

This book is a must-read.  It discusses several cases where innocent people were wrongly accused and CONVICTED. It is a serious problem in our country that some jurors do not rely on all of the evidence in a case or there is misconduct of a governmental agency. In this book, it details cases where people were convicted when they should not have been. Jurors must understand that they must be convinced beyond ALL REASONABLE DOUBT. If they are not convinced beyond all doubt, then they should not vote guilty in a jury trial case.

 PERSONAL BLOG NOTES

12/10/2007 12:35 AM -

I have not written on my blog in a very long time and after a few friends emailed me, I decided that I better.

Good luck to the New England Patriots. Hopefully Randy Moss can stay out of trouble long enough for them to win the Super Bowl. (I think that he has matured) I hope that they go undefeated and the Dolphins are winless - what an ironic season that would be.

I am in trial this week. Pray for me. I  am praying for all of my family and friends - there are two special people that I ask for prayers for- My Aunt Betty, who is in ICU at Carraway. She had enough strength to tell me to handle my trial this week and she would be okay. My heart is heavy dealing with her in ICU.

Also, my friend and fellow lawyer's wife (Erica) is progressively healing from a serious medical matter. Please pray for her also.

Last thing- pray for the City of Birmingham. With all of these fast changes in teh last few weeks, I am getting really nervous!

Until next time...

BIRMINGHAM'S NEW POLICE CHIEF

I have met Birmingham Police Chief Roper and am very impressed with him. He and I discussed the city while attending a Fraternal Order of Police Ball and he informed me of his plans to attack crime within the city. An article was written which he stated that Birmingham streets were  "...a culture of lawlessness..." Read the article, whcih the links is here:
